Linda Yohn, a long-time supporter of jazz, host and music director at 89.1 WEMU in Ypsilanti, Michigan, expresses her enthusiasm for Wendell’s new album, “It’s About Damn Time”.  Thanks, Linda for your support of Wendell and all things jazz!
Linda writes: “Wendell Harrison is another exciting Detroit musician. This is his first recording as a leader in seven years and it recalls his ’60s funk roots when he was in Hank Crawford’s little big bands. He still has the supple, snaky, strong saxophone sound. You can hear signature structures of Wendell’s compositions played with drive by Detroit’s finest contemporary jazz musicians.”

The album doesn’t hit the street until June 28, but you can hear “IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME” tomorrow, June 19 at 11am on AM1610 Hamtramck.  The show, Hot Plates With John Shetler will play the LP in it’s entirety.  The show will also rebroadcast on Monday, June 19, and Thursday, June 22 at 10pm.
